LAUREN watching HANSON at LIFEBEAT

No, I don't have any pictures. You have no idea how much I wish that I had pictures of Hanson performing at Lifebeat. Now for a review/storytime.

It's basically impossible for me to write about something and not mention myself, so you don't have the luxury of not having to read about me if you choose to read the rest of this review.

LIFEBEAT. Lifebeat.org. Any questions? Probably. But I'm moving on.

What does that have to do with Hanson? Well, since Hanson are musical artists, and good people, they played at a Lifebeat benefit show in Hollywood, California, at the Henry Fonda theater.

It was Hanson's first performance in quite a while, so when I first read about it, I HAD TO GO. HAD TO. Even though I don't exactly live near Hollywood, California. I live a bit north of San Fransico, California. An eight hour drive. which I planned to take with a friend of mine... who then, the day before the show told me her car died... so I FLEW down alone... and met up with my friend Joel (who is in the punk band The Renascent)

It was all quite last minute, and a bit expensive. But I got to see Hanson perform seven songs. That may not sound like much, but it was damn nice.

Before Hanson, The Like performed. Also: Wilshire, Special Goodness, Bleu (who I thought was cool). While bands were setting up, these two guys "hosted" the event, on a thing next to the stage that was raised. I can't remember their names right now. At one point, Zac walked out and said a few words, but I can't remember what they were now, because I was screaming through them. I have teenybopper reflexes, I can't help it! I would if I could. Eventually, after a very long introduction, our boys. And by "ours" I mean mine. Only mine. Just kidding.

Songs?

1. Penny and Me
2. Deeper
3. This Time Around
4. Misery
5. If Only
6. Stong Enough To Break
7. Underneath

Matthew Sweet came on stage to play guitar with Hanson during Underneath. The songs sounded amazing, Hanson's vocals sounded amazing. Better than they ever did before! That, and they were beautiful, and then Isaac asked me to go on stage and marry him in front of everyone. Okay, I made the last thing up.

I have not met Hanson, and it is still one of my dreams to meet Hanson. Hanson, if you're reading this, you want to make my dreams come true, right?

They switched around instruments during the show like mad. Both Taylor, and even Zac played guitar. Zac played little shaky things in addition to guitar, and Isaac only played guitar. Taylor was at a keyboard, plus played guitar. However, they remained seated in the same positions they are usually in on stage: Isaac to our left (where I was standing), Zac in the middle, and unavailableTaylor on the right.

Taylor had funny red suspenders. But he's still hot as Hell. I've always loved their clothes, and I loved Isaac and Zac's clothes, but Taylor, for the first time ever, actually confused me with his "fashion". However, I assume that I will be wearing the same thing sometime in the future and think I am cool.

I was wearing a khaki shirt, pink shoes, a tank top with rhinestones which I mostly kept covered with a grey sweatshirt, a necklace with a large star, and my hair was in pigtails. I told my friend AJ I would wear it that way, and I did. I'm the coolest 19 year old around, there's no denying it.

I have a very muffled recording of the concert that I totally did not do with a recorder in my pocket that came flying out of my pocket along with my cell phone (narrowly avoiding hitting people) when Hanson walked out on stage. I would never record a Hanson concert! I don't know how you made up such a lie.

(YOU DO NOT WANT A COPY OF MY CRAPPY RECORDING. It would be better for you to first hear the songs in their beautiful non-lauren-recorded brilliance. You know, so they're actually clear enough to decipher some lyrics. I only put the above paragraph because... wait... I didn't have a reason. Well, maybe. You can download the songs here, and the Godly site HansonHotel.com.

Anyway, my 21 year old male buddy Joel and I had a great time. Well, I actually never asked Joel if he had a good time so I am making it up. But it's probably true, because he wants to marry all of Hanson. You know how much those straight punk boys love Hanson.

Here is a comic I drew of the night:

So, in conclusion, I had a good time and I can't wait to see Hanson once the tour begins! However, I am worried that they will come to California while I am in Massachusetts, because that has happened before. Hopefully, that will not happen, but if it does, at least I got to see them this time around. I mean, this underneath.

After Hanson, Calexio performed, then Phantom Planet who I missed, who I wanted to see but my brother picked me up at 11 because he doesn't like staying up late on nights he has work early the next morning.

LAUREN's final thought: Lauren apologizes for her lameness, for she can not help it. When she begins to edit this website, she reverts back to her 14 year old self who first created this website. At least, that's her excuse. She would also like to apologize for yelling "I LOVE YOU ISAAC!" during the concert, probably in people's ears. And for most of the screaming she did. But not all.
